A Permanent Academic Home
The Center for the Study of Islam in India was established as an academic initiative of American Islamic College to create a permanent academic home for this field within American higher education — providing institutional coherence, academic depth, and sustained scholarly engagement.
For over a millennium, Muslim communities in the Indian subcontinent have produced jurists, theologians, scholars, reformers, poets, and statesmen whose contributions have shaped Islamic thought globally.
To advance rigorous scholarship on Islam in India and foster informed academic and civic dialogue grounded in intellectual integrity and historical depth.
