Center on South Asian Studies (CSAS) respects the privacy, dignity, and intentions of every donor. We are committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us and to maintaining transparency in our fundraising practices.
Information We Collect
When you make a donation, register for an event, subscribe to our communications, or contact us, we may collect information such as your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, donation amount, communication preferences, and information necessary to process your contribution.
Online payments are processed through secure third-party payment providers. CSAS does not store complete credit- or debit-card numbers on its systems.
How We Use Donor Information

Donor Information Is Not Sold
CSAS does not sell, rent, or trade donor names, contact information, giving history, or other personal information.
Information may be shared with service providers that assist us with payment processing, database management, email distribution, accounting, auditing, or other necessary operations. These providers may use the information only to perform services on our behalf and are expected to protect its confidentiality.
We may also disclose information when required by law, regulation, court order, audit, or governmental authority.
Anonymous Giving and Public Recognition
Donors may request that a contribution remain anonymous. Donors may also decline to have their names published in annual reports, event materials, websites, donor-recognition lists, or other public communications.
A request for anonymity will not prevent the organization from maintaining information required for internal records, tax reporting, auditing, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Some financial and donation records must be retained for legal, accounting, auditing, and tax purposes and therefore may not be immediately deleted.
Use of Contributions
We will make reasonable efforts to use contributions consistently with the purpose communicated to and accepted from the donor.
If a restricted purpose becomes impossible, unlawful, impracticable, or inconsistent with the organization’s charitable mission, CSAS will address the contribution in accordance with applicable law, the gift agreement, and its gift-acceptance policy. When reasonably possible, the organization will consult the donor or the donor’s authorized representative.
Recurring Donations
Donors may cancel future recurring contributions at any time by contacting us at info@centersas.org or through the payment platform used to establish the contribution. Cancellation will apply to payments that have not already been processed.
Refunds
Donations are generally nonrefundable. Requests involving an error, duplicate transaction, unauthorized contribution, or other exceptional circumstance will be reviewed under the organization’s refund and gift-acceptance policies
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
